Dark Palms

This was a crazy time of the day, with lots of visitors coming and talking with me about painting techniques and so forth.  The hay rides were going past, so there was much confusion and distraction.  Despite that, I really enjoyed doing this painting.

 

 

 

 

Palms at the Landing

These palms are located at the hsitoric first landing place on Orange Lake. Fruits used to be shipped  from this location in the 1800's.  There are early Native American artifacts on these farms.

This was the last painting I did at the paint out. It was a lovely morning but it turned very windy. I took the painting up to the Wood and Swink Post Office and finished it inside where it was cozy.

I painted this lovely cow one morning at Freddy and Wilma Sue Wood's Farm. She was very accomodating, posing for some time.  When I asked Wilma Sue what her name was, she told me she was unnamed.  She allowed me to name her and I chose Molly. Freddy decided from hence forth, she would be called Molly Blondheim. I am honored.

 

 

 

 

 

Oaks and Palms

This painting was another at the Wood Farm.  The wild poppies are in bloom on the farm. Freddy leaves them there for visitors to enjoy each spring and for his artist friends to paint.

Onions and Tomatoes at the Wood Swink

Freddy Wood grows the most amazing produce and sells it fresh each day at the Wood and Swink Post Office and Store in Evinston Florida. His wife, Wilma Sue is the post mistress and runs the store. It is Florida's oldest working post office and country stor. Truly a treasure and a step back in time. I believe it was built in 1882, and has changed little since that time. She and Freddy graciously allow us to come in and paint the beautiful produce and things in the store.  It is a wonderful opportunity and so cozy. The only drawback is that the store is pretty dark, so I never know what the painting will really look like until I take it outside.

 

 

 

Richardson Cows

This farm belongs to the Richardson family in Evinston . It is a vast farm with many cattle. It backs up to Orange lake and has many palms up to 300 years old.

This view is of Oaks and Palms on Orange Lake at Freddy Wood's Farm in Evinston.  It is my favorite painting of the work done in the paint out.  It was one of those perfect spring days in Florida which are such a joy.
