This is your opportunity to paint on a Florida Heritage Farm in North Central Florida in Historical Evinston Florida.

We will meet at the Wood Swink Post Office , the oldest post office and country store in Florida. Take a step back in time and enjoy painting the huge Live Oaks and tall graceful Sabal palms with lovely views of Orange Lake.

There are beautiful cattle on the land as well and it is completely private so there will be no distractions.

We will focus our study on trees for this workshop, including trunks, limbs, texture, lighting, values, moss, vines color mixing and composition.

The closest restaurant is in Micanopy at Pearl Country Store. It is just about 5 miles away and that is where the closest available bathroom facility is located. We will take a break for lunch and bathroom breaks as needed. Believe me, these minor inconveniences are nothing compared to the beauty and opportunity of painting this landscape. It is my personal favorite location to paint in North Florida.

Camping is available at nearby Paynes Prairie State Park and there are several fish camps in the McIntosh- Orange Lake area which offer clean 2 bedroom trailers for 55.00 per night. US 441 in South Gainesville has many motels available as well ranging from 50.00-125.00 per night.

Come join me to paint this beautiful private farm in North Central Florida.

All painting mediums are welcome, including gouache, acrylic, oils, watercolor, casein and pastels Email me at: lindablondheim12@hotmail.com to register.

Workshop Information

My Workshops:

My teaching method is a bit different from most workshop teachers.

I usually have a theme for the workshop. Most teachers do demos in the morning and let students paint in the afternoon.

I prefer to do very short demos, which illustrate the exercise we will do. I have a series of short exercises for the students relating to the workshop theme. These are designed to break down the steps to painting in a more manageable way, so that painting is not overwhelming.

I also ask alot of thought provoking questions throughout the workshop. My workshops are more interactive than most, with give and take between all of us in the group.

My goal as a teacher is to help you paint like you in the very best way, not to teach you to paint like me. We are all unique as painters.

I also prepare workbooks for students with tutorials and information that they can take home to keep.

 Art Tutorials and Career Coaching

  Artists Resources

Studying with a professional artist can jump start your career or your hobby.  Finding the right teacher for you means thinking about what you want from a career coach or workshop teacher.

Think about your comfort zone and how you best learn.  If you learn by watching demos and hearing lectures, watching slides and so forth, then you will need to study with someone who likes to spend most of their time lecturing and painting.

If you learn by doing, you will need a teacher who actively involves the student in the learning experience by allowing them to participate more. That means fewer demos and lectures and more painting with student exercises and problem solving on the student's part.  That includes more exchange of ideas between student and teacher.

I am definitely a "doing more" teacher.  I like to have total student involvement in the painting process. I like to push a student beyond the boundaries they have set for themselves. I don't do slide shows or lectures.  I do short demos to illustrate my points but never do finished paintings. I want my students to be painting as much as possible. We have question and answer sessions each day on the lunch break and critiques of work at days end.

Research your workshop teacher's style before you sign up so you won't be disappointed.

Finding the right fit with an instructor is so important for the success of your workshop. Take the time to research. Check with an instructor and ask specific questions.

Testimonials:

Just wanted to drop you a note of thanks on the great
workshop you conducted at Honeymoon Island on Friday. I know everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

I though the focus of the workshop was right on target of what we all
need to keep uppermost in our minds when we start to paint-- values and
composition! The notebooks you gave to us were outstanding--the best I've even
received at any workshop! I am so impressed with the effort you put
forth to make it a wonderful day for everyone. Thank you and I hope to
paint with you again some time.

It was a wonderful time, Linda. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!!  I feel as though the value of the time, your skillful teaching, the riches of your amazing workbook, and all sorts of other benefits--oh, can't forget that lovely lunch--are worth so much more than we paid. What a bargain !!

Linda has continued to amazed me with her comprehensive help, insight, ideas, giving nature, and enthusiasm as a coach. I began working with Linda’s Online Artist Coaching Service in April of 2007. She works with my ideas and desires, and leads me to a sharp, focused direction. Gaining that focused work schedule has been invaluable. I am now making the best use of my time, instead of running in many directions with no end point and no expected result. Linda is forth coming with knowledge and assistance, straightforward, honest, and adds a touch of humor to her coaching. She has helped me to discover my best, and uncover strength I didn't know I had. I am thrilled at my progress since my work with Linda, and I am eagerly awaiting our continued sessions together.

Linda,

I just felt like I should tell you how much I've enjoyed reading your blog and painters tips. Not only is the information helpful, precise and specific with illustrated examples, but it's full of great ideas and encouragement. I hope I can remember some of your great ideas and painters tips when I need them!

I've found it very validating and interesting and wanted to formally thank you for sharing your knowledge with people like me!

From Painter Kay Roscoe

Your tutorials have been a tremendous help already to get me out of this slump I've been in since July.   I've not gotten through all the exercises yet, but I'm getting there.  Your style of teaching is so easy to grasp, & your web site is down to earth.  You make art seem just like a part of life & not up high out of reach.   I've told a couple of artist friends about it.    I'm doing a painting for my daughter-in-law's birthday & have followed your "steps."   My artist daughter thinks it's one of my best in about 3 years.   The color theory tutorial was just what I needed to mix lively neutrals.  I even experimented with mixing some of my own ( at least some I didn't know about).   Thanks so much.  Best Wishes, Kay

From Painter Pam Kaye - Gainesville Florida

Regarding Plein Air Summer 2006

I have never had such thorough instruction. At the university we were shown little more than just how to mix the paints and then just told to go at it. I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying the summer sessions. Thank you for your attention to us.

From Painter Brad Greek- Ft Walton Beach Florida

It's been about 8 years since I've taken any kind of class or workshop, well this past week I made an exception. It was an Alla Prima workshop with Linda Blondhiem, a plein-air painter known around the southeast region. She instructed us with many exciting exercises including some 15 minute studies (which I posted several of mine above). She is an awesome instructor with a library of knowledge in both art and marketing art. A must do workshop if you get the opportunity.

From Painter Terri L West- Orlando Florida

Thursday I was in an all day paint out work shop at Mead Gardens put on by Linda Blondheim and she is an excellent teacher! Got a 16x20 1/2 done in the afternoon from that and I am very proud of the composition with the help and guidance of Linda. I am going to be using all her tips from now on.

From Painter Mary J Gray- Orlando Florida

I honestly think you are
one of the best Plein air teachers I've come across.  The buzz is still
on about the wonderful experience and all were very happy that they were
in attendance.  I sent a message to Plain Air Florida.  Thanks again.
