Notes From My Town Studio
I had some good fun with this 30 paintings in 30 days challenge 10 painting. I wanted to play intensity against neutral and repeat vertical patterns in the trees and dried grasses.
I am still exploring some closer value, less contrasty paintings, more close value paintings for this learning rotation. I must say that value contrast is so much easier than close value work. I’m trying to make better mid value range paintings than I used to, while having a bit of accent value in dark or light, rather than being so contrasty.
I have always been drawn to high contrast work, but I need to understand low contrast as well and know how to make it work. There is so much to know as a painter and the better I get the less I really know. I know, that makes no sense, but it is true!
